Fabcot, the inhouse retail development arm of Woolworths, is set to redefine the commercial landscape of Macquarie Park with a major new project – a state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution fulfillment centre.

This project is part of a larger strategy to strengthen Woolworths’ supply chain capabilities, catering to growing demands for efficient logistics and delivery services in Sydney’s northern commercial corridor.

The project is located at 144 Wicks Road – a prominent site within Macquarie Park – and will occupy the southwestern portion of the 1.4-hectare landholding. Historically, the site had a development approval dating back to 2015 for a Masters store, including a garden centre, hardware and building supplies outlet. However, in the wake of changing market demands and Woolworths’ strategic shift, the Masters project was shelved, making way for the new fulfillment centre.

At the heart of the proposal is a cutting-edge fulfillment centre with a total floor area of 32,402 sqm. This new distribution hub is designed to serve as a critical point of service for Woolworths’ expanding logistics network, particularly for online orders and last-mile delivery in the region.

Once operational, the centre will function 24/7, meeting the increasing demand for faster, more efficient distribution and delivery services. The facility is also expected to leverage the latest in automation and technology, ensuring that Woolworths can stay ahead in the rapidly evolving retail landscape.

As e-commerce continues to boom, the need for advanced fulfillment centres has become more pressing than ever. Other major retailers and logistics providers are deploying significant amounts of capital in this sector to ensure customer demands can be met as efficiently as possible.
