Earlier this year, Dexus lodged a proposal for a vertical high school at 3 Brookhollow Avenue in Norwest with capacity for 2000 students.

After receiving backlash, that proposal has since been withdrawn and a fresh application with the same capacity has been lodged with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, but this time the proposal is titled ‘Norwest High School Concept Proposal’.

The project features two buildings standing 9 and 4-storeys high, as well as an additional low rise building to accommodate a library.

Hills Council does not believe that Norwest Business Park is the most appropriate location for an education facility.

Norwest is positioned for significant growth and the Hills population is expected to grow by 80% between 2016 and 2036.

The provision for schools within the Hills LGA is inadequate, leaving a shortfall of schools for future residents. The lack of necessary school infrastructure inadvertently inhibits the natural growth in jobs that would be expected in line with the population of the growth area (according to planning documents).
