After years of waiting, the opening of a new state-of-the-art university campus in Gosford is a step closer following the signing of the final agreement between the NSW Government and University of Newcastle.
Valued at $18 million, the campus will be built on the former 4650sqm Mitre 10 site at 299 – 309 Mann Street in Gosford.
The campus will be a multi-faculty academic and innovation facility, and will cut the number of students forced to travel outside the Central Coast for tertiary education.
The campus will host course that focus on health, innovation, food and manufacturing, and will support emerging industries and entrepreneurship.
With 900 students expected to study on campus, it is expected that the project will have similar impact on the local area as the university’s Honeysuckle campus, which was also developed on former government land.
The university is also investigating options to expand the project by building student accommodation on the remainder of the site.
