Set to open its doors to patients on 1 June 2023, The George Centre will become the largest private maternity and paediatric hospital in Sydney, ensuring the ever-expanding community in Sydney’s southwest have access to state-of-the-art healthcare.

Located on the corner of Gregory Hills Drive and Hermitage Way, the new healthcare facility is the first stage of three within the precinct.

The brand-new 5-storey, 10,000sqm facility will include 78 ward beds, including 57 for overnight purposes, 5 operating theatres (plus 2 endoscopic theatres), 4 birthing suites, day surgery facilities, imaging and pathology services, a new multi-storey carpark including 215 spaces and provision of an outdoor seating and recreation area.

The surgical services on offer include general, colorectal, breast surgery, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology, urology, endoscopy, bariatrics, plastics and gynaecology.

The greenfield site is surrounded by recently developed residential land release sites.

Other existing private health facilities in the region are overburdened and unable to provide theatre list operation times for surgeons, meaning patients have been required to travel outside of the area.

Almost 20% of newborns in NSW are born in Southwest Sydney. In addition, Camden local government area has the fastest growing population in NSW. Broadly, the Macarthur Region’s growth is forecast to grow by 27%, almost making it the size of Canberra’s population.

In other words, this facility will serve well the growing population of Southwest Sydney.

The George Centre is part of the Acurio Health Group, a privately owned company that comprises five hospitals, day surgeries and research centres across Greater Sydney, including Sydney Day Hospital, Norwest Day Hospital, Sydney Retina Retina Clinic and Day Surgery and ACURIO Research.
