Regis Education is planning an education, sports and community precinct in the fast-growing Oran Park, which is set to complement thousands of new homes.

Set to be built on an 8-hectare parcel within Oran Park’s Pondicherry Lake Precinct, Regis Education is proposing to create a new co-educational and state-of the-art facility comprising the following:

  • Centre-based childcare facility – licence to enrol a maximum of 90-children.
  • Junior school precinct – 500-students for kindergarten to year 4.
  • Middle school precinct – 500-700-students for year 5 to year 8.
  • Senior school precinct – 800 year 9-12 students.

The precinct will comprise school buildings and ancillary spaces which achieve an integrated and cohesive campus celebrating the existing setting through the use of low-rise buildings, green spaces and gardens, a reflection area, deciduous tree canopy, onsite sporting facilities and access to the nearby lake and district playing fields.

In addition, the precinct will provide contemporary and flexible spaces and facilities for the use of the student population and envisages the joint and shared use of school facilities with local government and the private sector as an innovative way to provide school infrastructure and economies of scale.

School site plan

The education precinct will be located within Tranche 28 of Oran Park, which locality has contemplated a school for many years through the Oran Park Indicative Layout Plan. It will be located about 1500-metres north-east of the rapidly developing Oran Park Town Centre, which will include a train station as part of the North-South rail line.

Employment will be provided for 15 early educator workers and about 250 teaching and administrative staff.

With the South West Growth Area forecast to accommodate over 110,000 new homes by 2035, the new school reflects the demand for additional education infrastructure and alternative schooling options in the rapidly growing area.

Greenfields Development Company are the current landowners and developers of the Oran Park project and are pursuing commercial agreements with Regis Education to purchase the land. Both parties are highly aligned in the desire to deliver this education facility for the local community in a timely manner as possible.

With a portion of the site is being rezoned under the Pondicherry Precinct Planning Proposal, the project is considered to be partly prohibited and therefore required a project-specific set of environmental assessment requirements from the Secretary of the Planning Department. Once the Secretary issues her requirements, an environmental impact statement will be lodged with a State significant development application.
