In the very early stages of planning is a State significant DA for refurbishment of BlueBet Stadium in Penrith.
An environmental impact statement is being prepared by Ethos Urban on behalf of Infrastructure NSW for major upgrades to the stadium. The land on which the stadium sits is owned by the Crown.
The renewal of the project is designed to improve the availability of major recreational facilities in Penrith, supporting the fast-growing region. The gameday experience for fans and players is set to improve significantly and visitors from far and wide will be attracted, creating a super venue for sports events, live music and entertainment.
The redevelopment will include a new western grandstand and refurbished eastern grandstand, increasing the ground capacity to 25,000. Grandstands will be reconfigured to maximise seating with premium views between the try lines to be steeper to bring fans closer to the action.
In a win for fans, more food and beverage outlets and amenities will reduce wait times on gamedays and improve customer experience, as will new scoreboards, sound systems and upgraded lighting.

The hills at the northern and southern end of the playing field will be retained, reflecting feedback from over 3,000 fans, families and community members. Additionally, the training field to the west of the stadium will be remodelled to create a stadium precinct with quality open space for outdoor community sporting and entertainment events.
The $309 million project will be a boost for Western Sydney and will provide the ability for the stadium to house different events, including sport and entertainment events, such as festivals, concerts and motorsports.
To facilitate the redevelopment, the stadium is expected to close after the 2024 NRL season and re-open in 2026. Venues NSW will operate the stadium on completion in addition to operating Accor Stadium, the SCG, Allianz Stadium, McDonald Jones Stadium, WIN Stadium and CommBank Stadium.
