North Manly’s Recreational Renaissance

In a move towards enhancing community and recreational infrastructure, Northern Beaches Council has revealed a plan to include a new clubhouse at Warringah Recreation Centre in North Manly.

With frontages to Pittwater and Kentwell roads, Northern Beaches Council has filed a rezoning application with the NSW planning department to permit a 2700 sqm ‘registered club’ on the site, which is currently prohibited under the site’s RE1 Public Recreation zoning. Gateway approval has been issued by the department.

The detailed plans include the construction of a modern clubhouse at the heart of the Warringah Golf Course, together with an assortment of sports courts, aiming to serve as a communal hub for social and recreational facilities. This move is poised to not only enhance the local sports landscape but also to provide a versatile space for community engagement and events.

Aligned with broader and regional district plans, this initiative underscores a commitment to leveraging public land for social infrastructure, enriching community fabric through accessible and diverse recreational facilities.

Co-locating the future clubhouse on the existing golf club site will enable the utilisation of existing and planned sporting recreational infrastructure on the site. the central location of the

Warringah Recreation Centre, co-located with the existing golf club and sporting facilities, optimises the use of available public land for social infrastructure.

With gateway approval issued, a condition has been imposed in relation to the social impacts of allowing the sale of liquor and gambling activities on club grounds. These impacts have not been considered thus far.
