The former Riverlands golf course in Milperra will soon be transformed into a new mini suburb after the NSW Land and Environment Court upheld Mirvac’s merit appeal.

The Mirvac-led development will include more than 300 homes across 180 residential allotments.

5 community parks and upgrades to the Henry Lawson Drive intersections of Keys Parade and Pozieres Avenue will also feature as part of the project.

The development will provide public access to Georges River foreshore through the construction of a shared pathway, linking Vale of Ah Reserve, Deepwater Reserve and Milperra via Prescott Parade.

Multiple attempts to rezone and develop the Riverlands site had collapsed over the past 10 years with local residents fighting tooth and nail in light of concerns for wildlife and vegetation.

Another point of contention with locals was the golf course being part of a flood plain.

However, the NSW LEC ruled the development would not adversely affect flood behaviour on other properties, nor prevent people from safely evacuating in the event of a flood.

Earlier applications set aside 14,100sqm of parklands, which has increased significantly to 24,600sqm in the approved plans.
