In a significant move to enhance healthcare services in Western Sydney, Macquarie Health Corporation is preparing for significant redevelopment plans of the Minchinbury Community Hospital.
Located at 120 Rupertswood Road in Rooty Hill, this ambitious $200m project will transform the existing facility into a state-of-the-art health and wellness centre, catering to the growing needs of the community.
The site, spanning 25,255 sqm, is zoned SP1 Special Activities Health Services Facilities. It houses the existing Minchinbury Community Hospital – a trusted healthcare provider that has been serving the residents of Rooty Hill, Mount Druitt and surrounding areas since 1981. The majority of the site is open space, making it ripe for redevelopment.
Circa 25,000 sqm hospital site with an abundance of surplus land
The cornerstone of the proposal is the construction of a new 8-storey building that will be connected to the existing hospital via a covered walkway. This modern extension will feature a 3-storey podium and offer a range of cutting-edge medical services. The ground level of the new wing will host medical imaging, pathology, outpatient services, urgent and emergency care, as well as retail tenancies, providing a comprehensive suite of healthcare services under one roof.
The first and second floors will be dedicated to specialised in-patient care, with level 1 housing a mental health unit and level 2 offering a rehabilitation unit. Level 3 will be reserved for clinical services, while levels 4 -7 will comprise a health consulting tower, designed to accommodate a variety of medical professionals and specialists.
The redevelopment is not just about adding new facilities, it also includes a comprehensive internal refurbishment of the existing hospital building to ensure the entire complex meets the highest standards of care.
Once completed, the hospital will stand as a contemporary, multifunctional health and wellness centre, offering specialised clinical and diagnostic services that will benefit the entire community.
