The Minister for Education is proposing to redevelop Liverpool High School in anticipation of strong population growth in Liverpool LGA over the next 20 years.
Located at 18 Forbes Street in Liverpool on about 75,000 sqm of land, the government-owned parcel the subject of the plans currently contains the existing Liverpool Boys High School, Liverpool Girls High School and the Gulyangarri Public School, which commenced operations in January 2024.
What is proposed by the Minister for Education is an amalgamation between Liverpool Boys and Liverpool Girls into a single coeducational school, which will involve building a new 6-storey building with general learning spaces, administration and staff facilities, a state-of-the-art library, school hall and gym, as well as a new sports field and three sports courts.
Gulyangarri Public School is located on the site’s eastern portion. The new public school’s elements include a 2-3 storey school with 1,280 students.
The Greater Cities Commission’s Western City District Plan notes that Liverpool LGA’s student population is forecast to increase by 21,072 students by 2036. With Liverpool CBD and the wider region undergoing substantial transformation as one of Western Sydney’s fastest-growing district, the Minister’s plans will create jobs and improve education opportunities within the Liverpool City Centre and the health and education precinct.
