Southwest Sydney’s newest shopping centre is now open for business, featuring a full-line Woolworths supermarket with direct-to-boot pick-up facilities and more than 30 speciality tenants.

Located on the northwestern corner of Ingleburn and Rickard roads and is known as 97 Rickard Road and 116 Ingleburn Road. The new centre has a gross lettable area of close to 8000 square metres.

Leppington is expected to be a prominent centre accommodating significant residential and business activities. However, apart from this new shopping centre, there is little to no development of the Leppington Major Centre. Land use planning for the town centre is under review, which is focussing on further investigations to include more homes closer to the station.

The review by Camden Council and the State’s planning department of Leppington’s town centre will see a shift in strategic planning from largely an employment zoned business and industrial centre with pockets of separated medium density residential zones to a highly integrated mixed-use centre with concentrated density of activity and buildings in the strategic core. Greater focus will be on residential living and provision of cultural and recreational facilities, as well as major retail and government services for the surrounding areas.

Given the thousands of acres of zoned and soon-to-be zoned for employment uses 15 minutes from Leppington (i.e. Aerotropolis Precinct), there is simply no market demand for another employment centre in Leppington.
