King’s School is seeking to upgrade and enhance existing conditions on the prime school site, as well as improve and plan for amenities and facilities to support the current and future student and staff population.
An internal school masterplan was prepared by Architectus to assist the school’s development, project prioritisation and sequencing over the next 20 years. What is proposed is the following staged works:
129-hectare King’s School campus
A new vehicular entrance into the site is also proposed from the west (through the land owned by Tara Anglican School) to provide more direct and legible access to the Preparatory School and sporting fields.
The 129-hectare school campus site is surrounded by a variety of land uses, including low and medium density residential dwellings, seniors housing and several service stations and specialised retail premises on Pennant Hills Road.
King’s School is Australia’s oldest independent school and has provided education excellence since 1831. In the 1950s, the school moved from the Parramatta CBD to its current campus in North Parramatta. The school offers education to boys from pre-kindergarten to Year 12, and is one of the largest boarding schools in Australia. The campus includes a Preparatory School (pre-kindergarten to year 6) and Senior School (year 7 – 12) with a total of almost 2000 existing students and 900 staff.
King’s School includes significant areas of bushland and tree canopy coverage beyond the site’s boundary. It retains a high proportion of the existing natural landscape with the developed part of the campus located within the southern and eastern portions of the site.
