In a significant leap forward for educational infrastructure in Parramatta, the NSW Department of Education has embarked on an ambitious project to revamp Darcy Road Public School in Wentworthville.
This project is not just an upgrade – it is a transformative journey aiming to accommodate a growing student population with state-of-the-art facilities, promising to set new benchmarks in educational excellence.
The core objective is to expand the school’s capacity to serve up to 1000 students (from 709) – a significant increase that addresses the urgent need for additional educational space in the region. This expansion includes the construction of:

The genesis of this project lies in the recognition of a pressing need for additional educational facilities to cater to the rapidly growing population in the Parramatta region. Over time, the vision for Darcy Road Public School has evolved from mere expansion to a holistic transformation, aiming to provide an educational environment that is not just bigger, but markedly better. This evolution reflects a deep commitment to future-proofing education in Wentworthville, ensuring that the school can continue to deliver high-quality education in a rapidly changing world.
The Department of Education estimates an extra 89,000 students will need to be accommodated in both government and non-government schools in the Central City District by 2036. Upgrading of Darcy Road Public School will contribute to addressing this demand.
