Pyrmont Metro Over Station Development is a transformative project that integrates Sydney’s expanding transport system with urban renewal, promising to reshape the cityscape and invigorate the Pyrmont precinct.

On public exhibition, Pyrmont Metro OSD proposes a new mixed-use building incorporating commercial, retail and residential apartments directly above Pyrmont Station. It seeks to leverage the station’s strategic location to deliver a dynamic, mixed-use environment that supports Sydney’s vision of integrated transport and urban living.

Key features of the project include a building height of RL 120m, a total gross floor area of over 23,000 sqm and up to 55 car spaces, aiming to offer a balanced mix of uses that enhance the precinct’s vibrancy and accessibility. Up to 160 apartments will be provided over the station, together with a retail podium.

Pyrmont Station comprises of two surface land parcels:

  • 37 – 69 Union Street (eastern site)
  • 26 – 32 Pyrmont Bridge Road (western site)

The construction of Sydney Metro West represents an exciting opportunity to incorporate global best practice for placemaking and environmentally sustainable development and to apply innovative thinking to create new city icons. The delivery of integrated station and precinct development enables Sydney Metro to be more than just a transport project, but also a defining city building opportunity that revitalises precincts and communities.

The Sydney Metro program of works includes:

  • Sydney Metro North West – opened in May 2019
  • Sydney Metro City & Southwest – currently under construction with services to begin in 2024
  • Sydney Metro West – currently under construction and expected to open in 2032
  • Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – currently under construction and due to open when the airport opens for passenger services
