A State significant DA has been lodged with the NSW planning department for a mega high school in Sydney’s fastest growing corridor.
To be located on the vacant 39,000 sqm parcel at 45 Buchan Avenue in Edmondson Park, the new school will accommodate 2,000 students, 124 full time staff and 20 support staff. The scope of works includes:
The project is intended to be staged. Stage 1 will deliver an interim operational school with about 800 students and will include all core student facilities by 2027. Stage 2 is subject to future funding to deliver the remainder of the project build, with minor refurbishments to Stage 1 buildings and a full school occupation of 2000 students.

NSW is facing unprecedented population growth, particularly in children under 15 years of age. By 2031, an additional 269,000 new students will require access to government and non-government schools, of which over 164,000 are expected to enter the government school system. This growth is significantly above historical trends. This mega high school will help support the rapidly growing community.
Contextually, the school site is located within the Edmondson Park South Precinct in Sydney’s southwest, which over the last decade has been subject to considerable transformation due to the introduction of the southwest rail line and rapid housing growth in new release areas. The precinct is subject to a concept plan approval by Landcom. The school site is immediately adjacent to the existing Edmondson Park Public School (primary school) and future medium-to-high density residential uses.
