Parramatta Eels’ high-performing rugby league facility in Sydney’s northwest will soon welcome players and the public, as the first phase of construction begins.

With an expected end value of $53 million, the new training ground at Kellyville Park will strengthen the club’s connection with its more than 35,000 club members and 800,000 fans, as well as boost youth participation.

Once delivered by Kane Constructions, the new facility will provide a high-performance rugby league training and administration building to service the Parramatta Eels NRL, National Rugby League Women’s and various pathway programs, including junior rugby league teams, touch and league tag teams and the Canterbury Cup.

What is proposed is a new gymnasium, cardio and yoga rooms for players, theatre and review rooms, aquatic rehabilitation, ancillary office amenities and medical staff space. A 5000 square metre recreational and community facility building with a 1500 seat grandstand will also be delivered, together with match-day media rooms, change rooms and a café.

Hills Shire Recreation Strategy 2019 establishes the basis for the planning and provision of open space and recreation facilities in the Hills LGA to 2036. In 2019, Council also exhibited a draft landscape masterplan for Kellyville Park and identified it as a premier sports facility for rugby league. Parramatta Eels subsequently announced it had partnered with Hills Council to move away from its North Parramatta training base to Kellyville Park.

A total of $15 million of federal government funding was secured by federal liberal MP Alex Hawke, who claimed it as the largest funding arrangement the LGA had seen.

Kellyville park has a total area of 30,000 square metres. It adjoins the northern boundary of the site, while Windsor Road is located 200 metres east of the site.
