Circular Quay hosts some of Australia’s biggest events, including Vivid Sydney and the New Year’s Eve fireworks, which are watched by over 1 billion people globally and injects $130m into the NSW economy.

The NSW Government has announced a key partnership with a consortium to drive forward the next phase in the revitalisation of Australia’s waterfront to the world.

Transport for NSW has revealed that CQC Partners – a consortium that includes Lendlease, Capella Capital and BESIX Watpac – have been chosen as the planning and design partner for this major Sydney renewal investment.

The proposed revitalisation of Circular Quay includes building new wharves, upgrading the train station, delivering new places for people to eat, drink and shop, creating more active transport connections and improving public green spaces for people to enjoy.

The NSW Government and City of Sydney are also mulling over a plan to turn the busy Cahill Expressway into a pedestrian highline walkway.

Council is proposing the expressway be removed and the railway station placed underground.

If this project is ever brought to fruition, it won’t be until the Western Harbour Tunnel project is completed.
