A new seniors housing development is set to rise in Carlingford at 1 Martins Lane and 3A Homelands Avenue, aiming to provide an inclusive and supportive living environment for the elderly. The development, spearheaded by BaptistCare, will feature a mix of residential care facilities, independent living units and a respite care centre.

The 1.9-hectare site is adjacent to Site A, another completed BaptistCare development for affordable housing. In 2019, the site underwent a rezoning proposal that rezoned the site from R2 Low Density to R4 High Density, increasing the building height from 9 to 14 metres.

The cornerstone of the development is the residential care facility, which will provide 96 single rooms for seniors requiring more intensive care. This facility will include onsite services such as a kitchen and laundry, ensuring all residents’ daily needs are met without needing to leave the premises.

The care facility will also offer a café, salon, gym and multipurpose rooms, enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents.

Alongside the care facility will also feature a 130 independent living units, comprising 66 x two-bedroom and 64 x three-bedroom units. These units are designed for seniors who are still largely independent but may require some level of assistance or access to community-based care. Each unit will be equipped with onsite kitchen and laundry facilities, providing a self-sufficient living environment.

To foster an active and engaged lifestyle, the development will also offer a range of recreational facilities, including a library, cinema, function room and gym. Onsite services such as a hairdresser, beautician and allied health services ensure that residents have easy access to amenities that enhance their wellbeing and comfort.

A respite care centre will also be constructed at 3A Homelands Avenue. This facility will cater to seniors who need short-term care, offering office space, activities, a function room and a dining area. This area will serve as a valuable resource for families who need temporary care for their elderly relatives, whether for medical reasons or simply to provide a break for caregivers.

BaptistCare has been a trusted provider of aged care services for over 70 years. The organisation is known for delivering compassionate, Christian-based care to the elderly and disadvantaged communities.
