The Sydney Automated Distribution Centre by ALDI project represents a significant milestone not only for the company but also for the future prosperity of Western Sydney Airport. This project exemplifies ALDI’s forward-looking approach, blending cutting-edge technology with strategic investments aimed at enhancing the company’s supply chain efficiency and capacity to support customer needs across NSW.

Located at 475 Badgerys Creek Road in Bradfield, adjacent to the future airport, the automated distribution centre will be situated on a former poultry farm owned by Ingham Property Group. The land, now cleared of the structures used for farming, is undergoing a master planning process. The master plan includes enterprise and light industries, a local convenience centre and open space and parklands (see indicative plan below).

Indicative Master Plan for 475 Badgerys Creek Road

The automated distribution centre itself will be a state-of-the-art facility covering about 90,000 sqm and sit 42 metres high. It is designed to operate with a high degree of automation, with around 80% of the internal process being unmanned. This use of advanced automation will allow ALDI to optimise its supply chain, ensuring that goods are stored and distributed efficiently.

A human presence will still be required, with the site expected to support over 300 staff. It is expected to generate 1540 truck movements a day to supply stores with goods and produce.

The facility will feature multiple temperature zones, including ambient, chilled and freezer areas, enabling the safe storage and distribution of a wide range of products. Once complete, the distribution centre will have the capacity to supply more than 200 ALDI stores across NSW.
