With a relocation date yet to be determined, Albion Hotel has recently lodged an alterations and additions DA to the ground, first and second floors of 20 Smith Street in Parramatta – an existing commercial building which sold earlier this year by Australian Unity for c$87m.

It is proposed that the ground floor will be used as a hotel premises, while the first and second floors for dining and a night club.

The original Albion Hotel opened in 1882 and was demolished and rebuilt in 1924, and the Solomon family acquired the pub in 1986.

In 2020, bulldozers crushed the 207-year-old Royal Oak Hotel at Parramatta to make way for the light rail and soon the Albion will be replaced with two towers housing 405 apartments, as well as a cinema, wine bar, function space, billiard rooms and indoor bowls.

The patron capacities for the hotel will be restricted to 350 patrons on the ground floor and 1200 on levels 1 and 2.
